Love Lessons is about a Fourteen year old girl called Prue (Prudence) and her sister Grace. They have been home schooled by their controlling super-strict father almost all their lives. The girls think that they aren’t the same as ‘ordinary’ girls and their attempts to become ‘normal’ were buying nice clothes instead of wearing Mum’s odd hand-made garments, reading teenage magazines etc. When their Dad found out he had a stroke and suddenly got rushed to hospital unable to move or speak properly, the girls mother decides that since she was unable to cope with their education and a sick husband, Prue and Grace get sent to school for the first time in a few years. Grace settled in easily but Prue found it really hard and the only person she can find to talk to is her handsome, young art teacher Mr Raxbury (Rax). Prue and Rax form a friendship over Prue’s art lessons, and soon he asks Prue to baby sit for his little children while he and his wife have a night out on a Friday. This becomes regular and Prue can’t wait for the ten minutes they have alone together as he drives her home. As her feelings for Rax develop, she begins to think that perhaps he feels the same way about her. But he can’t act upon them, can he?

I really enjoyed this book because it kept building-up and didn’t tell you what was going to happen and you couldn’t just guess what was going to happen either. When I got hooked on this book it was actually really hard to put it down, I just wanted to carry on reading it. The good parts about this book are that you start to get interested in it basically straight away and that it shows how strict parents and bullying can affect people. I also think that the first sentence ‘I hate dad.’ is really good because it makes you wonder about the rest of the story and what’s going to happen next. What I didn’t like was that Prue was sometimes really arrogant and the fact that Prue is in love with a grown man is rather disturbing.

I thought that this book was really magnificent. I gave it a rating of four stars because I thought that it was excellent and in some parts I could really relate to what I was reading. I wouldn’t recommend it for younger readers, it is more written for teenage girls because it is obviously about love and younger children may not want to read about that sort of stuff at their age and neither would most boys. Where as most teenage girls don’t mind.

Overall I thought this book was awesome and I would recommend it to any one who thinks it sounds like a good read or likes that sort of book.

New Zealand vs England

Filed under: News — Holly at 9:21 pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2007

Just lately there was a netball game between New Zealand and England. It was a match from the netball tri-series. There is three teams in the netball tri-series, the three teams are New Zealand’s Silver Ferns, Australia and England.

In one of the games the Silver Ferns vs England the score was 45 - 50 to England. England won by 5 goals and it was their first win against us in 34 years and 66 matches. This was a victory to remember by England and Hopefully New Zealand can train hard and with any luck do better next time.

Blissful Blue - Miserable Blue

Blue can be happy but also very sad
Blue tastes cold and icy
Like a piece of ice slipping down your throat
It smells very salty
Just like the middle of the deep blue sea
Blue can be darker than the deepest of the ocean
Or light and comforting like the nice baby blue sky
As well as freezing cold and wintry
Sky blue is cheerful, calm and soothing
Bright blue makes you feel happy, fun and joyful
While dark, deep blue can be sad and also quite scary
Blue reminds me of winter
Frosty snow all over the place
It also makes me think of the chilly Antarctica
With its ice-cold water and lonely penguins
A blue world may feel a little bit sad
But then it would joyful, quiet and peaceful as well

Considerate

Considerate has glossy, sleek, straight, blonde hair that hangs around her shoulders. You would certainly not ever catch Considerate not wearing a pastel coloured top with a white cardigan over top. She is also more often than not wearing a skirt which is coloured pale blue or green, you may even occasionally get a glimpse of a pink mini skirt. She is the daughter of Kind and Polite and you would most likely find out that she’s a little sister of Pleasant, also her couple of younger brothers are Thoughtful and Understanding.

Caring, Helpful and Friendly are all equally her best friends, she is very similar and exceedingly fond of all of them. Mean, Greedy and Selfish her enemies are always teasing her and trying to get everyone to dislike her and loathe her, just because they are jealous. But all of her enemy’s plans have failed because she is always so courteous and sympathetic of others. Considerate even treats her enemies with lots of respect and care.

If you had a day in the life of Considerate you would be rushing all over the place going to her councillors meeting and later on to one of the new entrant classes to help them learn to read and write. That afternoon she’d be in her own class making sure that everyone was cheerful and that they all knew what they were doing as well as how to do it. Later that night she would be at her house helping her little bothers with their homework.

When you look at Considerate’s generous face you will see a huge smile full of shiny white teeth shimmering like the suns reflection in the water. If you look into her eyes you’ll see pleasure and gentleness, she’ll give you hope and make sure you’re cheerful.

Considerate is not only very nice to her friends and family but she is always very nice and kind to everyone and everything she ever meets. Considerate will never ever make fun of any one even if everyone else is.

Considerate will always adore and care for everyone and everything for ever and ever.
